Case Study

Craver

Craver is a mobile app platform that helps restaurants streamline ordering, reduce costs and enhance their customer experience by creating a customised mobile app.

Summary

  • Craver makes it easy for restaurants to create their own mobile apps. But they wanted to make sure these apps were just as easy to integrate into restaurants’ existing workflows.
  • By building with Square APIs for in-app payments, catalogue, inventory and orders, Craver created a seamless integration between their app and Square Point of Sale.
  • Now, restaurants that choose Craver can easily sync their Square menus into Craver, and track orders from Craver in their Square Point of Sale – eliminating the need for a separate order tablet.

Customised mobile apps for restaurants of all sizes

The rise of mobile apps has changed how buyers interact with brands across all industries – and restaurants are no exception. A custom mobile app not only allows a restaurant or cafe to provide better experiences to their customers but can also be a powerful marketing tool. And it can help save on the high costs associated with food delivery platforms and taking orders over the phone. That’s why Amin Yazdani co-founded Craver, a mobile app platform for restaurants that helps them create completely customised mobile apps. Amin and his co-founders started Craver in 2017 after his software development company encountered several potential clients who wanted a dedicated mobile app but couldn’t afford to develop one from scratch.

“We want to make it easy for restaurants to have their own apps,” says Amin. “Best-in-class tools shouldn’t be reserved only for big businesses with teams of engineers.”

Integrating with Square for menu and order management

Craver uses multiple Square APIs to streamline operations for its restaurant clients, including the In-App Payments SDK for processing payments from diners, and the Catalogue and Inventory APIs for menu management. More recently, Craver began leveraging Square’s Orders API to integrate with Square Point of Sale. When a diner places an order on the restaurant’s mobile app, Craver pushes the order to that restaurant’s Point of Sale via the Orders API, and the restaurant can process it alongside all of its in-person orders.

“Many of our customers already use and love Square Point of Sale, and integration with their existing system has been key to keeping their operations simple,” says Amin. “With Craver, there’s no separate tablet to track online orders, and they never have to worry about missing an order.”

This is what a technology partnership looks like

Square’s developer platform has helped Craver easily add functionality to its software – like in-app payments – as well as create an integrated and seamless experience for its clients who use Square for their day-to-day operations. What’s more, Square’s team has been available every step of the way.

“We’ve been able to access the team at Square to work through implementation questions, provide feedback on the APIs and understand what’s coming to the platform as we prepare to build new functionality into our product,” says Amin. “Our partnership with Square is great for our customers.”
