Webhook from first app reaching second app

I have 2 separate Square apps in my square account. The webhooks subscription in each app have their own endpoints. But I see webhooks from the first app which have no relevance for the second app, reaching the webhook endpoints in the second app. I verified it by checking the webhooks logs in the developer console.

App1 - sq0idp-wePSvhXDMs3YhMLEdnhcag

App2 - sq0idp-jqf5XTGCXgaL4NU6O35iSg

It sounds like there might be a configuration issue with your webhook subscriptions. Each Square application should have its own set of webhook subscriptions, and the events should only be sent to the endpoints specified for each application. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:

  1. Verify Webhook Subscriptions: Double-check the webhook subscriptions for both App1 and App2 in the Developer Console. Ensure that each app is subscribed to the correct events and that the endpoints are correctly configured.

  2. Check Endpoint URLs: Make sure that the webhook endpoints for App1 and App2 are distinct and correctly set up in the Developer Console. It’s important that each app’s webhook configuration points to the intended endpoint.

  3. Review Webhook Logs: Use the Webhook Logs in the Developer Console to trace the source of the webhook events. This can help you identify if the events are being sent from the correct application.

  4. Test Webhook Configuration: You can send a test notification from the Developer Console to validate that your webhook configuration is correct for each app.

  5. Check for Shared Resources: Ensure that there are no shared resources or configurations between the two applications that might cause cross-event triggering.

If after these checks the issue persists, it might be helpful to review the setup with a fresh perspective or consult with a colleague to ensure no detail is overlooked.

Hello!

You are experiencing an unexpected behavior where webhooks from one Square app are incorrectly being sent to the endpoint of another. This is most likely caused by a misconfiguration in the webhook subscription settings within your Square Developer Dashboard. To fix it, you need to verify that each app’s webhook endpint URL is correctly configured and unique. If the settings are correct, the issue may be an internal routing bug on Square’s end, and you should file a direct bug report with them, providing your app IDs and webhook logs.
