We just signed up for a phone number and we’re using the in-app Messaging function, but sometimes we’d like to be able to send an automated update to the customer. For instance they special ordered a book and it has arrived, instead of opening up Square and going to messages, and finding the customer and then messaging them that hey, your book is here, it would be great if I can click a button in my special order system that pings the Square API to notify that customer.

Currently, the ability to trigger an message to the customer via the API isn’t currently possible. We’re constantly working to improve our features based on feedback like this, so I’ll be sure to share your request to the API product team.
