Title: Can Square APIs add customer artwork uploads and customization instructions to an existing Square Online store? (Free Plan)

Hello,

I have a Square Online store on the Free plan selling custom 3D-printed products.

I need customers to upload images and provide written design instructions when purchasing products. Some customers order multiple items, each requiring different artwork.

Is there a Square API, SDK, or integration that can collect these files and instructions and automatically associate them with the correct Square order?

Ideally, I would like to view the artwork, instructions, and purchased items together when processing orders.

I already have a Jotform upload form and would prefer to keep my existing Square Online storefront.

Can this be accomplished using Square Developer tools without a monthly subscription?

Thank you!

This could be accomplished with Square’s APIs, but would require building your own ordering website with a place to store any attachments to the order. Square’s orders do not natively support attachments and Square Online does not support any customization to the order workflow.

Thank you for your response!

Before I consider building a new website, I have one more question.

My Square Online checkout already has the “Note to Seller” field enabled.

Could I use Square’s Orders API or another API to automatically insert or update a plain-text URL in that field AFTER a customer pays for an order?

For example, the customer pays through my existing Square Online store, uploads their artwork through Jotform, and an integration adds the artwork URL to the matching Square order’s Note to Seller field.

I understand the URL would not be clickable. I am perfectly happy copying and pasting it into Chrome.

Is this technically possible for a paid Square Online order that is still awaiting fulfillment?

If not, is there another field visible in the regular Square Orders Dashboard that an API can update after payment?

Thank you for your help!

You definitely could do that!

Once the Jotform is submitted, you could have an integration update the existing order and append the URL to the notes field.

I’m assuming you have an Order ID or reference number from Jotform. You would need to find the order first and then update it by its ID and version number Update Orders
