Terminal Canada

I would like my customers in Canada to use square inside my application. Currently I only support US clients for Square ingration. I think it was the APP fee, doesn’t work if I have a us square account and they have a canadian square account. Can I just not charge the app fee and will that work for canada? Besides the obvious like making sure I send the correct curreny over

Hi,

Yes. Canadian Square sellers can connect to your application through OAuth, and you can process payments on their behalf using your existing U.S.-registered application without charging an application fee.

Leave app_fee_money out of the payment request, use the Canadian seller’s OAuth access token and location ID, and send amounts in CAD to match that location’s currency.

For application fees, the Square account receiving the fee must be in the same country as the seller, with matching currency. Your U.S. account therefore can’t collect application fees on Canadian sellers’ CAD payments. Omitting the application fee avoids that restriction.

You should also check that the payment methods your integration uses are supported in Canada. Square’s normal payment processing fees still apply.

If you want to collect application fees from Canadian sellers later, you’ll need a separate eligible Canadian Square account and an application setup associated with that account. See Collect application fees.
