I have access the dashboard and developer account for my client but I need to add a developer to work on the API. It looks like to do that I have to add the developer to the dashboard with administrator level access. How do I restrict what they can access so they can only view the developer portal?

Hi @genupdigital,

The only way to grant a team member access to Developer Dashboard is to give them full-access. There’s no way to restrict the team members permission to just the Developer Dashboard.

Instead, someone with access to Developer Dashboard can create an application, and provide your developer with the sandbox and production API credentials. But then they cannot configure webhooks or view the API Logs for debugging.

If you decide to add your developer as a team member, and after they create and integrate your app, you can deactivate their profile from your team list.

Follow these steps to add your developer as a full access team member on your account:

  1. Visit Team in your online Square Dashboard.
  2. Select or create a team member profile.
  3. Under Permissions, click Edit or Enable Permissions if this is a new team member.
  4. Select Team Permissions or create a new permission set. Note: When creating a new permission set, you will need to choose a name for the permission set.
  5. Enable Full Access
  6. Enter or generate a passcode and email address for the team member and Save.

Your web developer will receive an email invitation, allowing them to create their password.
Once they sign into Square, they’ll have access to your developer platform.
