We operate Tapestry Coffee, a coffee roaster and two-location café using Square, and we’d like to request special access to the Discount Codes API, including DISCOUNT_CODES_READ and DISCOUNT_CODES_WRITE.
We’re building a National Coffee Day campaign that allows a customer to digitally gift a free coffee to someone else. Each recipient would receive a unique, single-use Square-recognized code or QR code redeemable for the qualifying coffee at either of our Square POS locations on National Coffee Day.
Our desired flow is:
Customer gifts coffee → unique single-use discount code is generated → recipient receives the code digitally → recipient presents it at our Square POS → Square validates and redeems the code.
We would use max_redemptions: 1 and associate the codes with the appropriate Catalog pricing rule. We specifically want Square to remain the source of truth for redemption so our café team can use their normal Square POS workflow and duplicate redemptions are prevented.
National Coffee Day is September 29, so we’re hoping to determine quickly whether special access could be enabled for our Square application.
We’re happy to provide our Production Application ID, Merchant ID, expected volume, and any other information privately.
