How to obtain PPID / Apple approval for iOS app using Square reader accessory protocols?

Hello Square Team,

We are preparing an iOS app submission and need guidance on the PPID / Apple approval process for Square reader accessory protocols.

Our app uses these Square external accessory protocols:

  • com.squareup.s020
  • com.squareup.s025
  • com.squareup.s089
  • com.squareup.protocol.stand

We found this form and wanted to confirm whether it is the correct current form for this process:

Could you please confirm:

  1. Is this the correct form to request PPID / Apple approval for these protocols?
  2. If not, what is the correct current process?
  3. What information is typically required from the app developer?
  4. Once approved, what exact PPID or review note text should be included in App Store Connect?

This is our first time going through this Apple approval flow, so any guidance would be appreciated.

Yes that is the correct form! Once you submit it can take up to a couple weeks to get approval from Apple depending on how many submissions are ahead of yours.

Once approved, please include the following with your App Store review notes:
This application uses the external accessory protocols com.squareup.s020, com.squareup.s025, com.squareup.s089 and com.squareup.protocol.stand (PPID# 127167-0003, 127167-0006, 127167-0005, 127167-0004 and 112944-0189).

I have submitted details using that form for my 2 apps.

One question: you gave below PPIDs, are these actual or for example?

These are actual! I see your submissions now. There are 4 apps ahead of yours and we have to submit one at a time but will follow up here as soon as I submit! I’d estimate ~10 business days.
