How does a developer get an assigned Partnerships contact while Marketplace onboarding is paused?

We’ve built and deployed a read-only Square integration (OAuth, Orders API) for bars. It’s live with connected sellers and we’d like to list it in the App Marketplace.

The September note on this forum says App Marketplace onboarding is paused for developers without an assigned Square Partnerships contact, and that no escalation path or timeline is available. Understood, and we’re not asking for an exception.

The question is the step before that. How does a developer with no existing relationship get assigned a Partnerships contact? Is there a route, or is the honest answer that it waits until the pause lifts?

Happy to be told to wait. We’d rather wait knowing which queue we’re in.

Hi @jason_jery.ai,

Welcome to the Square Developer Forum!

Partnership consideration depends on our product team seeing alignment with Square’s strategy and expectations for product quality.

Although this is not a guaranteed route to an assigned contact or a partnership agreement and I can’t offer a timeline. My recommendation is to keep developing your app and demonstrating its value to sellers. Strong evidence of seller adoption, a high-quality integration, and strategic alignment can help strengthen the case for the type of partnership that Square is looking for.

Thanks @helner-square. That gives us something concrete to aim at.

You’re right that we’re early on seller count. We have bars connected over OAuth today and the feedback from them has been good, but I’d rather come back when the adoption evidence speaks for itself than make a thin case now.

So the question I’d like to get right is the one after that. When we do think it’s there — seller adoption, integration quality, strategic fit — what does presenting it actually look like? Is it the App Partner application, a different route, or someone specific to write to?

Thanks!
