I’m trying to interface a Joomla site to Square for the processing of donations. I’ve been searching the Square docs for any info to no avail. Any advice on where to go for info would be a great help. Reference to any Square api would be helpful.
I do not believe so, unfortunately. You can find a full list of formally supported applications here: https://squareup.com/us/en/app-marketplace. With that said, you or anyone else has the ability to create your own integrations using Square’s APIs without being on the marketplace as well, it just will require some development to build out of course. Please let me know if you have additional questions or concerns!
Thanks for your response. I’m just starting with Square and was hoping for a PayPal like block of code ( form ) which could be used to pass data to Square. Square would do its thing and send my customer back to my ‘Thanks’ page. The Square Dashboard would provide the data breakout on what the donation was for and how much.
I guess my search is just starting.
Thanks for clarifying. You can definitely use Square Checkout Links to generate a link (or button or whatever) to a specific amount or a specific item (or even a donation) that the customer would be re-directed to to pay for. Everything else we have will require at least some coding when it comes to the developer side of things.
I’ve watched the video for the Checkout Links, and it’s probably exactly what I need. There is one problem for a starter. It shows to go to the “Online Checkout” button on the dashboard. There is no “Online Checkout” on my dashboard. The video shows the button at the 41 second mark. I’ve spent most of today reading the documention etc., but to no avail.
I would be remiss if I didn’t return to this thread and provide my final findings.
If you go to the Item Library and click on any Item for editing, then scroll down to the bottom of the page, a Checkout Link is provided for processing that item. I found no documentation for this location/feature. This link can be used within a Joomla article and/or module. Problem solved.
This will be my last addition to this thread.
Hey @Phil_Schaming apologies I didn’t respond yesterday, but I really appreciate you coming back and closing out what you did. This will be very valuable to other folks in a similar situation. Definitely let me know if you have further questions or concerns!
