All MODIFIER_LIST objects deleted automatically minutes to hours after creation - 9 occurrences, both Dashboard and Catalog API

Every modifier list I create in my catalog is deleted automatically, without any action from me. This has happened nine times since August 22 across two different creation methods. I currently have zero modifier lists and cannot configure drink add-ons for my cafe.

I was directed here by Square Customer Success, who indicated the API team would need to look at this.

Observations

  1. In every multi-object occurrence, all deleted objects share an identical updated_at down to the millisecond and an identical version.

  2. In the 2026-08-26T00:59:52.724Z case, the two modifier lists were entirely independent - flat lists, no nesting, no child_modifier_list_ids, no cross-references of any kind. They were still removed together in a single operation.

  3. Both Dashboard-created and API-created sets are affected. The naming differences between occurrences reflect which method I used.

  4. Time from creation to deletion is not consistent: 12 seconds, 5m30s, 11m, 13m, 7m, 6m, ~1h, ~4h. Not a fixed interval.

  5. Only MODIFIER_LIST and MODIFIER objects are affected. My 89 ITEM objects have never been touched.

  6. My Production API Logs for application sq0idp-gnIynxXw2JnsvedhHYqDrQ contain no Catalog write calls in the windows bracketing these timestamps. The only Catalog entries are read-only GET /v2/catalog/list requests from a monitoring script I wrote, running once per minute.

Possibly related

My modifier lists are returning channel_integrations with three entries, all state: ENABLED. The count has grown over the past several days - one entry on Aug 22, two by Aug 25 05:08, three by Aug 25 05:42. IDs begin:

CH_dw4i0KSmVflN2Zn0jZjKy6...
CH_ScSrYIxdb7Is0NeiUu2Gy6...
CH_2Lzbv05rCi7ekI7rmYDAy6...

I have not knowingly connected any ordering channels and do not have DoorDash or Uber Eats integrations. I don’t know what these are or whether they write to the catalog.

What I’m asking

  1. Can someone determine which client issued the delete operations at 2026-08-26T00:59:52.724Z and 2026-08-25T21:16:28.459Z? Merchant ID available on request or via DM.

  2. What are the three channel integrations above, and can a channel integration delete MODIFIER_LIST objects?

  3. Is there a known issue here?

I can reproduce this on demand and provide full API response JSON for any occurrence listed. Square version in use: 2026-08-19.

The deletions are being performed by a third-party integration connected to your account specifically, a catalog sync operation that is calling BatchDeleteCatalogObjects to synchronize your account with the main catalog of your organization. This is also the source of the channel_integrations entries you’re seeing.

This isn’t a Square platform bug. The integration is removing your modifier lists as part of its synchronization process. You’ll need to contact the provider of that integration or your organization administrator to adjust how their sync handles modifier lists you’ve created independently or to add your new modifiers there.

To confirm which application is connected: check Square Dashboard → Account & Settings → Authorized Applications (or call ListOAuthAuthorizations). That will show you the app name and permissions granted.
