Stand MFi Approval Form — no response after 5+ weeks

Hi all,

I submitted the Square Mobile Payments SDK – Stand MFi Approval Form on 14 August 2026 for my app and still haven’t had any confirmation or update.

App name: BlydePOS
Bundle identifier: com.blyde.BlydePOS
App Store version: 1.0
Date submitted: 14 August 2026

I also emailed [email protected] several times as a follow-up but haven’t had a reply there either. Has anyone else experienced a wait this long, or is there a better way to check on the status of a case? This is currently blocking a live business from taking Square Stand payments, so any pointers would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Nicola

I do see your request, I’m looking into a status of it right now and will post back when I know more.

Our team has confirmed that your application was approved by Apple. You should now be able to submit your application to the App Store.
Please include the following with your App Store review notes:

This application uses the external accessory protocols com.squareup.s020, com.squareup.s025, com.squareup.s089 and com.squareup.protocol.stand (PPID# 127167-0003, 127167-0006, 127167-0005, 127167-0004 and 112944-0189).

Thank you so much. I do think as feedback, there needs to be a better system for this, as 5 weeks with no response when a business is waiting is very difficult. But again thank you I really appreciate it

Agreed and we’re working on it, most of it is on the Apple side so we don’t have a ton of access into the status until its done :upside_down_face:

Thanks again for the Stand approval. BlydePOS version 2.0 (build 3) is now live on the App Store, with your PPID note included in the App Review notes. However, the Stand’s reader isn’t working with it.

In the SDK’s settings screen the Square Stand is listed but shows “Reader unavailable”, and the payment screen says “Connect hardware to take card payments”. The same Stand and iPad work fine with the official Square POS app.

My approval form listed version 1.0. Does the approval cover version 2.0, or does it need to be updated with Apple?

What I’ve already checked:

  • Environment is Production, SDK version 2.5.0, correct location
  • Info.plist has all four accessory protocols, plus Location and Bluetooth usage descriptions
  • Location permission granted on the iPad (While Using)
  • SDK initialised in AppDelegate at launch with the production Application ID
  • Square POS app fully closed, iPad restarted and reseated in the Stand

Bundle ID: com.blyde.BlydePOS

Apple does require us to submit versions with our requests so it could be causing an issue here. I can update your app to 2.0 in our product plans with Apple. Apologies for the initial delay we were working through a large backlog but I should have this approved within a few days this time.

Thank you, that’s really helpful! Could you let me know here once it’s approved so I can test it on the Stand?

or is it instant? just so I know when I can actually try it

Hi Ashley, just checking in on this. Has the 2.0 update gone through with Apple yet? I tested again today and the Stand still shows “Reader unavailable”, so I wanted to check whether that’s because the approval is still pending. Thanks!

It looks like it is still pending with Apple. I’ll keep an eye on it this week and let you know as soon as I get the approval notice!

Hi Ashley,

Quick update with some more detail, in case it helps.

I ran a test build of BlydePOS from Xcode with the iPad in the Stand (official Square POS app fully closed):

  • iOS sees the Stand (EAAccessoryManager shows “Square Stand”, model SPG1-01, protocols com.squareup.protocol.stand and com.squareup.protocol.mfgtest)
  • The SDK shows 1 reader, and the authorization state is authorized
  • But the reader shows “Reader unavailable – Unable to establish a secure connection to Square” (connection type USB, firmware 418101, serial 306CS17610000436)

The same happens with the App Store version 2.0. The official Square POS app takes payments fine with the same Stand, iPad and Wi-Fi.

What I’ve tried:

  • Restarted the Stand from the SDK settings screen
  • Checked the iPad’s date and time are set automatically
  • Tried a different network (phone hotspot)
  • At the shop, the Stand is also connected to a Square Hub, but the same error happens with or without it

Is this caused by the 2.0 approval still being pending, or is something else blocking the secure connection for my app?

Screenshot of the error attached.

Thanks,
Nicola

Any update on this please?

Apple just approved the new version last night could you try again and let me know?

No, still getting the same error messages. Nothing has changed.

During the Xcode test, was the debugger attached? An attached debugger can prevent the SDK from establishing a secure connection.

Could you stop the Xcode session, fully close BlydePOS, and launch it directly from the iPad’s Home Screen before testing again? Also, was the App Store test on the same iPad after those Xcode runs?

Could you share your app ID so I can take a deeper look and see if we have more error logging on our side to narrow down the issue?

Thanks Ashley. Yes, the debugger was attached during the Xcode test. But I’ve since deleted BlydePOS, reinstalled the App Store version, fully closed Square POS, and launched BlydePOS from the Home Screen, and it still shows “Unable to establish a secure connection to Square.”

Developer Mode was still turned on for that test, so I’ll turn it off and test again next time I’m at the shop.

My Application ID is: sq0idp-wrYOctg1Elo0fxbqxJWVOA

Hi there, this has been on going for a month now, and I haven’t heard back in a week, was wondering if somebody could get it touch

Were you able to test with developer mode off?

Yes and still same error
