The company i represent has noticed a trend where square is not allowing our clients to submit transactions if their provided email contains the .llc domain extension. I can confirm that the emails are valid as we are able to converse through outlook just fine. And as soon as we change the provided email to a personal gmail account, the transaction submits just fine. As far as I can tell, the .llc domain extension became publicly available in 2018. So how does square not support this yet? Are we missing something? I attempted to contact Square Support and was directed to this forum as the “only method to have this matter addressed”. Hoping someone can provide some help or insight.
Hi @atlas! The .llc domain extension should be accepted by Square, but ultimately, Square does not even require an email address to accept a payment.
Could you provide the following details?
- Is your seller using a payment integration with Square? They may be requiring an email with the payment submission, which may be the cause of the error. I would recommend reaching out to the integration provider regarding this error.
- If your seller is not using a payment integration, can you provide any further details on the workflow that is causing the error? And can you provide any more details on the API that you are using, and what the error is? If possible, the Application ID associated with the app making the API calls is also helpful.
