Reliable way to get Square Checkout custom input field values via API?

Hi,
We’re using Square Checkout API (Checkout API) with checkout_options.custom_fields. In some cases, the customer-entered value appears in order.fulfillments[0].delivery_details.note, but this behavior doesn’t seem to be documented or guaranteed. We want to take billing address of customer with custom input field.

Is there a supported and reliable way to retrieve custom_fields values via the Orders API or Payments API? If not, what is the recommended approach for persisting additional customer data when using Square Checkout?

Where else are you seeing the custom input field in the order? Or is it alway in the fulfillment? :slight_smile:

Just in the fulfillments, like this:

According to the team that is the expected behavior for it to be added to a note in the details. :slight_smile:
