:tada: Mobile Payments SDK is Now Generally Available

Embed the Square payment flow into your iOS or Android mobile apps and accept payments with Square hardware like the Square Reader or Square Stand. Create a reliable payments experience, unify Square orders and payment workflows, and launch a secure, PCI-compliant payment solution with confidence.

After months in beta, the SDK is now generally available with brand-new features and expanded market availability. Here’s what’s new:

  • Scale across the U.S., Canada, and Australia: Grow your global presence and reach more sellers in key markets.

  • Enable flexible payments with the Tap to Pay on iPhone and Android (Beta): Allow sellers to accept contactless payments on compatible iPhone and Android phones running your app - convenient, cost-effective, and no external hardware required.

  • Accelerate development with Flutter and React Native plugins: Deploy across iOS and Android with a single codebase.

Note: The Mobile Payments SDK replaces the Reader SDK. If you are using the Reader SDK, please migrate to the Mobile Payments SDK by December 31, 2025.

To meet global demand, we’re expanding Terminal API capabilities to more markets and introducing new region-specific features.

  • Create cohesive orders and payments experiences: Now you can integrate the Terminal API with the Orders API to streamline orders and payments for sellers in Canada, Australia, and the United Kingdom. Send payments directly to the Square Point of Sale or Kitchen Display System to streamline fulfillment and display itemized line items on Square Terminals and receipts to enhance buyer transparency.

  • Simplify payments with multi-brand QR code payments in Japan: Enable Japanese sellers to display a single QR code on Square Terminals to accept seven major payment methods.
