Customers API duplicate detection and merging

I am aware that Square detects duplicate accounts and shows a suggestion to merge on Square Dashboard. But can a merge happen automatically without manual approval from an admin?
I am especially asking about events such as Invoice generation or POS payment event against one of those accounts, can such events trigger a merge?

There is some merging that we do on the backend if were very sure that it’s a duplicate profile. :slightly_smiling_face:
