Can someone help me build a live macro calculator to embed in Square Online

Hi there, I must confess I am not a developer but I’m looking for some help. I would like to build a live macro calculator within Square Online so when your placing an order for a custom sandwich every time you add or move an ingredient the macros update automatically (Calories, Protein, Carbs, Fat etc). You can’t do this within Square Online and most companies tend to build a custom website and then link to square for payment. I am just trying to see if I can create something within Square Online using custom code and their embed sections, it also needs to look and feel very slick too. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hi! This is definitely possible, but I should mention it’s not a simple project due to Square Online’s limitations.

There are two options:

  1. Simpler: Build an embedded macro calculator that updates calories, protein, carbs, fat, etc. in real time. It would work independently and wouldn’t pass orders to Square.

  2. Fully integrated: Build a custom mini app using the Square API. This would include the live calculator and integrate directly with Square’s ordering flow. It’s the better solution, but it’s more complex and takes longer to develop.

If you can share your website, I can recommend which approach would work best.

The fully integrated option is what we would be looking to do.

I tried to email you a link of a good example but it didn’t allow me to email you a link.

After doing a lot of research this weekend it seems that the cleanest way to do this would be to build a custom site and use Square’s API’s.
