Buyer-level CreateBooking in Sandbox returning 403

I’m building an iOS appointment-booking app using Square’s Bookings API.

My Default Test Account has online booking enabled at the location level. However, CreateBooking using the full-access Sandbox token returns:

403 FORBIDDEN: Merchant subscription does not support write operations.

I understand buyer-level bookings should be supported without a paid Appointments subscription.

Can I generate a separate Sandbox OAuth token restricted to APPOINTMENTS_READ and APPOINTMENTS_WRITE for my existing Default Test Account, without affecting its current full-access token?

Or do I need to create a separate Sandbox seller test account to test buyer-level booking creation?

I’m trying to verify buyer-level CreateBooking before connecting it to my iOS app.

Unfortunately we do not have full sandbox support for bookings flows. Most developers test this in the production environment.
