We are transitioning our business from a sole proprietorship to a corporation and need to migrate our product catalog from our existing Square account to a new Square account.
While we understand that product and inventory data can be migrated via CSV, Square Support informed us that product images cannot be transferred in bulk between accounts and suggested contacting the API developer community.
We have a large number of products, many with multiple images.
Could you please advise:
Is it possible to bulk transfer all product images between two Square accounts using the Catalog API?
Can the images be automatically linked to the corresponding products in the new account while preserving their display order?
Is there an existing tool, recommended procedure, or migration support available for this process?
We would like to avoid manually downloading and re-uploading each image.
Indeed the catalog API should allow you to achieve this programatically with a little bit of script work. This page should help you get started. If the data import has already been done via CVS you’d just need to make sure to have a correct mapping for your script.
I did want to quickly check in with you if you’ve asked Square Support if it would be possible to transfer ownership of the account. This is done in certain use cases and might be easier than creating a new account and dealing with the migration.

I have already contacted Square Support in Japan, and they informed me that a new Square account is required when transitioning from a sole proprietorship to a corporation.
Therefore, transferring ownership of the existing account does not appear to be an option in our case.
