1% fee for EXTERNAL payments when the seller uses their own application, plus First-Party Delivery

APIs. Our application ID is sq0idp-8jGFo_AK61vu_4EZYWa6BA; first sellers go live in the coming weeks (France, UK, then North America).

  1. We understand from a previous thread that the 1% fee on orders paid outside Square (source_id EXTERNAL) is billed to the developer account of the application that creates the order. If a seller connects through their own Square developer application and their own production access token, is the fee then billed to that seller’s account rather than to ours? We want to describe this correctly to sellers.

  2. Does the same 1% apply when the payment is recorded with source_id “CASH”, or only to EXTERNAL?

  3. Could you enable First-Party Delivery (DELIVERY fulfillment type) for our application, or tell us the process to request it? Until then we send delivery orders as SHIPMENT fulfillments, as recommended previously, and pickup orders as PICKUP.

Thank you,

The 1% orders fee for EXTERNAL payment types applies to the developer (not the seller). If you use Square payments you are not subject to that fee.

Yes I just enabled your app for DELIVERY fulfillment
