Hi Square Developer Team,
We would like to request special access to the Discount Codes API for Scoop City, including DISCOUNT_CODES_READ and DISCOUNT_CODES_WRITE, starting with sandbox testing. We saw the staff response confirming access by special request in this thread: DISCOUNT_CODES_READ/WRITE OAuth scopes present, but /v2/discount-codes returns NOT_FOUND
Scoop City is developing a merchant-authorized membership and rewards integration. Our goal is to let merchants keep their existing Square ordering, kitchen, and POS workflows while customers view and choose eligible Scoop City benefits in our app or website. We want to issue Square-recognized discount credentials that customers can redeem through supported Square checkout channels, then reconcile the actual redemption and completed payment before marking the Scoop benefit as used. Scoop membership tiers, reward coins, and stamps would remain separate from Square Loyalty points.
The initial proposed pilot is a unique, single-use $5 discount in sandbox. We need to validate successful redemption, duplicate-use prevention, abandoned or canceled checkout, and refund handling before any production rollout.
Could you please help us start the access review and confirm:
- Availability of creating, retrieving, expiring, and revoking discount codes, including single-use limits and customer binding where supported.
- Supported redemption channels (Square POS, Square for Restaurants, Square Register, and Square Online), and whether Square-issued QR credentials or manual code entry are supported.
- How to retrieve redemption status and associate it with an order and completed payment, including any available webhooks.
- Required OAuth scopes, merchant subscriptions, partner approvals, and sandbox/production eligibility.
We have an existing Scoop City developer application and a sandbox integration. We can provide the application ID and any other onboarding details privately. We are requesting access to the officially supported API and will not rely on internal Dashboard endpoints.
Thank you,
Alan Wong
