How do I use CatalogDiscount object?

Hello,

I am having trouble working with the CatalogDiscount object? First, it’s not clear to me how to find the CatalogItem objects that a CatalogDiscount object applies to. Also, where in the object model are the quantity discount rules setup for a CatalogDiscount?

With our APIs programmatically creating a discount that will automatically apply to an order is through a pricing_rule.
