The android Square app allows interac payments which leads me to believe that the android SDK will allow interac payments as well…

Yes, interac payments are available with Mobile Payments SDK in Canada. 
Specifically for Tap to pay on Android? We are having a hard time implementing the SDK in our initial tests. We represent a major account. Is there any dedicated representative we can reach out to?
Are you referring to tap to pay payments with Interac? What issues are you running into?
We followed the documentation implementation, we can initialize and authorize, but readerManager.tapToPaySettings.isDeviceCapable() reports false, and readerManager.getReaders() return zero readers. We’ve set up readerManager.setReaderChangedCallback but it never gets called back.
Basically the documentation says that the Tap to Pay reader is automatically registered, but it doesn’t seem to be the case.
Is this with a supported tap to pay device?
