My iOS app uses the Mobile Payments SDK 2.7.0 (Swift Package Manager) in production. The Square Stand’s built-in reader connected on 2026-10-27 around 21:45 Central. It stopped working after I installed Square Point of Sale on the same iPad. Since then the reader is always READER_UNAVAILABLE with the reason SECURE_CONNECTION_TO_SQUARE_FAILURE, and retrying doesn’t help.

Already tried
- Deleted Square Point of Sale, reseated the iPad, and power-cycled the Stand.
- Reinstalled the exact app build that connected on 10-27. It now fails too, so the app code hasn’t changed.
- Tried a non-debuggable ad-hoc build, with the App Attest environment set to production.
- Checked that the Square frameworks in the app match SDK 2.7.0 exactly, including CorePaymentCard UUID 287FA696-8034-3128-AA02-26132B09FA78.
- [Registered the iOS app signature (bundle ID and Team ID) under Production. / The Production signature list was empty.]
Could you check your server logs for why the secure session is rejected at these times? Does installing Square Point of Sale change the Stand reader’s state in a way that blocks other apps?
