Enable RECURRING_CHARGE (bank on file ACH) for our application - sandbox and production

Hello Square team,

We bill our accounting firm’s monthly clients through our own app using the Web Payments SDK and the Payments API (application ID sq0idp-_8Vvu4UodXDWlDX4a3J5jA). We’d like clients to save a bank account on file with ach.tokenize (intent RECURRING_CHARGE) and charge it once a month for an amount that changes from month to month.

  1. Could you enable RECURRING_CHARGE for this application in sandbox and in production?
  2. Are variable-amount monthly authorizations supported in production, and what does the client see and agree to in the bank-linking step?
  3. Is each charge made with CreatePayment using the saved bank account, and which webhook events report a returned ACH payment (for example, insufficient funds)?

Thank you!

Facing the exact same challenge with variable monthly billing! Have you heard back from Square support about enabling RECURRING_CHARGE? Webhooks like payment.updated typically handle ACH returns like insufficient funds.
