Creating a Square account does not require a Social Security Number (SSN) or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) during the initial setup. You can create a Square account with just an email address. This allows you to explore and test all Square APIs in the sandbox environment. However, to activate payment processing and use the full production API capabilities, you will need to complete the activation process which may require additional information based on your region’s regulations.
