Square Presents: Streamlining Android Apps
Technical talks featuring Jake Wharton and Pierre-Yves Ricau
Written by Eric Burke.
On June 25 we’re hosting an Android-themed tech talk at our San Francisco office featuring Jake Wharton and Pierre-Yves Ricau. There will also be time to meet one another over snacks and drinks.
Jake kicks off the event with a talk on “Eliminating Code Overhead,” demonstrating techniques that both libraries and applications can implement to minimize CPU and memory usage.
Then, Pierre presents LeakCanary, our new memory leak detection library for Android and Java. Thanks to LeakCanary, we reduced OutOfMemoryError crashes in Square Register for Android by 94% in just a few weeks.
If you’re an Android developer, we’d be thrilled to give you a peek into engineering at Square. You can RSVP to the event here. Eric Burke - Profile *I built a rolling planer stand today out of a few 2x4s, a sheet of 1/2" plywood, and four wheels. This project is…*medium.com
