# TerminalApi - Create Checkout delay

When creating a Checkout via the Terminal API, it takes up to 15 seconds for the transaction to start on the Square Terminal. The terminal is connected via wifi.

Is this normal? Are there any recommendations to speed this up. Ethernet perhaps?

Hi @grunw welcome to the forums!

Sorry to hear that, that is definitely less than ideal. Can I ask where you are physically located in the world? I believe folks who live in Australia, for example, might have a longer wait period as there’s no Square servers near Australia. However, it definitely could be something with your Internet as well, and if possible, I would suggest ethernet to see if it makes a difference.

Also, what is the `device_id` so I can try looking up any logs that might be causing an issue?
