PosClient Integration - trying to streamline

Hi,

I have developed an Android app in .NET MAUI for our NFC mobile devices. I initially spent a lot of time trying to use the Mobile Payments SDK, but as there is no direct .NET support I had to create a binding library and could not get it to work properly.

So I abandoned that and implemented the PosClient functionality to switch from my app to the Square app and back again etc.

This is all working fine but I have a small problem (or rather my client does). When my app pushes the charge request and the square app appears, another tap is required to enable tap to pay.

I have read that this automatically triggers when no payment types are selected. I have configured this in the settings and it works when creating a payment directly on the square app. However, when coming from my app it always includes manual card entry and gift card options. So the extra tap is required.

I’ve tried all kind of settings. Different ways of initialising or triggering. The RestrictTendersTo method etc.

Is what I’m talking about possible? How can I get rid of the other options?

Thanks in advance.
Ash

@Ash - The Point of Sale API’s restrictTendersTo method controls which payment types are offered (card, cash, etc.) but it cannot force the Square POS app to skip its own payment-method selection screen and go straight to Tap to Pay. Even with only CARD passed to restrictTendersTo, the Square app still presents its card-entry UI (which includes manual card entry and gift card options from the app’s own settings). There is no POS API parameter that suppresses those options or auto-triggers the NFC reader.

Mobile Payments SDK does enable TTP directly in your app without an extra tap, but unfortunately, as you’ve discovered, there is no .NET/MAUI support for MPSDK.
