# Auto Card Surcharge not applied on Connected Terminal (allow\_auto\_card\_surcharge: true)

We use the Terminal API (Connected Terminal) and completed Credit Card Surcharge onboarding in the Dashboard (3%, location M3529FJDGB5VE). Our CreateTerminalCheckout request sends `device_options.allow_auto_card_surcharge: true` with Square-Version 2026-01-22, and the checkout echoes it back. But no surcharge is applied on credit cards. Example: checkout `n5vKqy5gg654dVCE`, payment `fLYdki7wQ1RyLSK3zCuveGRSvUeZY` (credit Visa, $1.00, no `applied_card_surcharge_details`). Device 046CS149A1001350, Terminal OS 5.67.0101, app 7.18. Same symptom as forum thread [26787](https://developer.squareup.com/forums/t/terminal-api-auto-card-surcharge-beta-never-applies-enrollment-path-for-connected-terminal/26787/5), which was resolved over DM. Is there an enrollment step needed for ACS on Connected Terminal?

Please send a new checkout ID if you are still running into issues.

It also may help to bump to our latest app version on the device-

1. Swipe in from the left edge to open the menu.
2. Go to Settings → Hardware → General → About Terminal.
3. Check for and install any available software updates.

Keep the Terminal connected to the internet and plugged into power, and do this when it isn’t processing a payment.

After updating, check the OS and app versions on that screen, then rerun the surcharge test.

That fixed it, just a simple update to the Terminal. Thanks so much guys.
