Ai Can't read my website

Hello. Claude can’t read my website. I was sent here to ask about it. Hopefully this goes through. Please advise. Given the rise of AI use and AI being used as search engines, they need to be able to read my content!

This isn’t a Square-specific issue — it’s about how the website is configured for web crawlers in general. Square Online doesn’t provide a custom robots.txt editor, but here’s what to check:

  • Ensure the site isn’t hidden from search engines — In your Square Dashboard, go to Website → SEO and confirm “Hide site from search engine results” is off. Also check individual pages via Page settings → SEO.
  • Check your robots.txt — Visit https://yourdomain.com/robots.txt directly and see if AI crawlers (like ClaudeBot) are being blocked by a Disallow rule.

Square Online doesn’t have a separate “allow AI crawlers” toggle. If standard search engine crawling is enabled and robots.txt isn’t blocking specific user agents, AI crawlers should be able to read the site.

I have done the first bit already and the sites are all searchable.

this is what I get when I substitute my domain into the text you gave me - User-agent: *
Disallow: /s/search
Disallow: /s/cart/
Disallow: /s/checkout/
Disallow: /store/checkout
Disallow: /store/status
Disallow: /product/*/*/leave-review
Crawl-delay: 5

User-agent: Googlebot
Disallow:
User-agent: Googlebot-Image

Claude can’t read my site and it tells me this when I ask why: The site is built with Square Online’s Vue-based site editor, which renders all page content client-side via JavaScript. When a tool fetches a page’s raw HTML directly (without executing JavaScript), it only receives the section — meta tags, title, Open Graph data, tracking scripts — with no actual page content. The body content only appears after JavaScript runs in a browser.

Square Online has no setting to enable Claude specifically, change page rendering for individual crawlers, or guarantee inclusion in an AI product. Claude’s site-access behavior is controlled by Anthropic, so any further investigation would need to go through Anthropic support with the affected URL.

Since this does not involve a Square developer API or SDK, and the available Square Online crawler settings have been covered, there isn’t anything further to troubleshoot in the Developer Forums. We can take your suggestion as a feature request, but JavaScript-heavy websites are extremely common, not just with Square Online.
